Strictly Come Dancing

7.25pm, BBC One
It’s time for the new Strictly era to begin, with Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe ebulliently taking over (sparkling) hosting duties. EastEnders stalwart Lacey Turner, footballer Shaun Wright-Phillips, Aussie singer Delta Goodrem, Gavin and Stacey’s Melanie Walters and previous dropout Dani Dyer are some of the 15 celebrities meeting their dance partners in this curtain-raiser. Alongside them, as is now customary in celebrity-based reality TV competitions, there’ll be some “media personalities” you’ll probably need to Google. But it’s not all change: the usual four judges are back with their scoring paddles. All that’s left to do is get ready to rumba! Hollie Richardson

Francis Galton’s groundbreaking century-old statistics theory is the inspiration behind this new gameshow. (No mention here of him also being widely considered the originator of eugenics though …) John Bishop puts contestants against the audience to ask: is the crowd better than the individual? Anyone who beats the theory could win £30k. HR

It’s a double Willis weekender, as she returns to host this next round of the singing competition. So far, Kelly Rowland has been left in tears after Aaren James’s emotional performance of How Do I Say Goodbye, while Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones used the show’s first Rewind button to bring back Phantom of the Opera singer Finlay McKillop. It’s the third season of this stylish fact-based French period drama, and the past of courtesan turned informant Meg Steinheil (the charismatic Evelyne Brochu) has caught up with her. However, even as she processes the loss of her husband, her statement isn’t adding up. Meanwhile, Dreyfus has returned, bringing trouble. Phil Harrison

Dolly Parton Night

An evening-long celebration of the country-pop goddess. First, her 2014 Glastonbury triumph. Then, a documentary in which KT Tunstall explores the parallel careers of Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris. Finally, Dolly’s appearances on the BBC. PH

Hamlet (Aneil Karia, 2025), 10.05am, 6pm, Sky Cinema Premiere

There is little Riz Ahmed can’t turn his hand to, so it’s no surprise that he gives a bravura performance as Shakespeare’s tragic hero in Aneil Karia’s modern-day adaptation. The royal Danes are now a wealthy British Hindu family of property developers, but the film retains the Bard’s language while cutting down the text to focus exclusively on Hamlet’s trauma. It’s a bold move that largely pays off, as we follow the heir to the firm as he descends into angst, rage and revenge after discovering his uncle Claudius (Art Malik) murdered his father.
